Waiting(等）

Waiting (等) stems from a video call with my grandmother, where her expression revealed both pride and sorrow. It reminded me of rural elders sitting on fallen tree trunks, waiting— for their children, for time to pass. Their wisdom and artistry are often overlooked by industrialized society. In this work, vivid orange highlights their presence, while layered colours suggest fragmentation and reconstruction. The nine portraits symbolize not just my grandmother, but all those marginalized and forgotten. Waiting urges us to see and acknowledge their existence.
