My Self

This series of paintings reflects the evolving perception of society through different life stages, symbolizing personal growth and feminist exploration. Using transfer printing, collage, and acrylic painting, each piece highlights a specific feature or gesture representing a stage of perception: purity and self-focus at 0, listening without personal judgment at 6, observing with critical thought at 12, speaking out at 18, and embracing subtle understanding at 30.

Inspired by discussions on women’s growth on Bilibili and the book Feminism from Scratch, I realized feminism is less about demanding equality and more about self-reconciliation. This concept, intertwined with my own experiences, guided the creation of these works.

The process involved collecting old photographs, experimenting with materials, and combining transfer printing with acrylics on wooden boards and cotton cloth. These paintings capture the complexity of growing into oneself while engaging with societal expectations and realities.
