Breaking is my MFA graduation exhibition, composed of three interconnected bodies of work: the Frame performance series, the Entrance installations, and the ongoing participatory project Hi, Calgary. Together, these works explore the complex relationship between individual identity and the visible and invisible frameworks that shape our lives.

Frame Series

In this series, I performed at three symbolic public locations, each representing a different form of constraint—social, cultural, or personal. Through endurance-based actions, these works investigate how external structures shape our sense of self, and how the body can act as both a site of resistance and transformation.

Entrance 01 & 02

Constructed from wood and other tactile materials, these two installations emphasize the instability and permeability of “frames.” They invite viewers to physically and conceptually step into and out of structures that represent both societal pressures and self-imposed limitations. The entrances serve as thresholds—both for escape and for entry into new possibilities.

Hi, Calgary
Performance and Photography, digital prints with handwritten text (42 pieces), 2025–ongoing

In Hi, Calgary, I walked the geographic boundaries of the city, inviting volunteers to join me in exploring physical and symbolic borders. Through minimal actions—walking, silence, and saying “Hi”—the project creates space for reflection, connection, and collective presence. Over time, the performative act transforms the boundary itself into the artwork.
